Our Services:

Acupuncture uses fine, stainless steel needles that penetrate the skin at specific locations on the body. Acupuncture needles are sterile and are only used once. The benefits of acupuncture are often felt immediately. Weekly treatment is most common, although sometimes more frequent visits are necessary. An estimated 9 to 12 million patients visit acupuncture clinics every year in the United States. It is being utilized in doctor’s offices and hospitals throughout the world and is an important element within the growing field of integrative medicine. Our experience has shown us that acupuncture therapy is a profound intervention for the treatment of pain, chronic internal medical conditions as well as psychological disorders, autoimmune diseases and more. Chinese Medical Massage, or Tuina, is one of the branches of Chinese medicine. It is designed to re-align the structures of the body and restore proper flow of qi, blood and body fluids in the channels. It is a therapeutic massage which treats both internal and musculo-skeletal disorders, including common problems such as neck strain and back pain as well as medical conditions such as dysmenorrhea or asthma, and sports injuries.

Herbs are a complex and powerful aspect of Chinese medicine. An herbal formula, based on centuries of empirical research, is created by combining individual herbs. Herbal prescriptions are prepared after a careful diagnosis of each individual in accordance with the specific nature of the disorder. Herbs are often recommended with chronic conditions and can be very effective in treating digestive problems, asthma, dysmenorrhea, peri-menopausal symptoms and other internal disorders as well as skin conditions and even the common cold. In comparison to Western pharmaceuticals, Chinese herbs are sometimes slower acting; they work to balance the body’s own healing abilities, not only diminish symptoms. Properly administered, a course of treatment with Chinese herbs (ranging anywhere from a week to several months) can sometimes resolve problems that may have been present for years.

Qi Gong Therapy is a system originating in Taoist medical practices to train the body in healthy patterns of breathing and dynamic movement. Similar to Rehabilitation Therapy or meditation, Qi Gong Therapy is a way to train correct and healthful movement, to strengthen areas that are weak, and to give support for healing of injuries. Based on your health concern, qi gong exercises may be selected for you that will best support your treatment. Usually these movements are designed to generate better integration of the whole body and to support everyday movements.

Other Chinese Medicine modalities which may be used in conjunction with acupuncture include Gua Sha, Cupping and Moxibustion.

What we treat:
The World Health organization released a statement in 1997 stating that the following conditions could be effectively treated with acupuncture either as an alternative or as a complementary therapy: adult post-operative and chemotherapy nausea and vomiting, and postoperative dental pain. There are other situations in which acupuncture could be indicated, such as addiction, stroke rehabilitation, headache, menstrual cramps, tennis elbow, fibromyalgia, myofascial pain, osteoarthritis, low back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and asthma.

Within the study and practice of Chinese Herbal medicine and Acupuncture, diseases of internal medicine including Gastrointestinal disorders, Gynecological disorders, Autoimmune disorders, Psychological disorders, Neurological and Orthopedic disorders are all potentially treatable by acupuncture.
